Recommended Watching: My War Diary

The Military Channel/Discovery Channel run a show called My War Diary, composed entirely from video shot by American troops in Iraq.

The thing I like best about this series is how swiftly it moves from the truly dangerous to the ridiculous. A lot of time is spent on video from extremely bored troops who devise ever-more-questionable means of amusing themselves. And then you get first person footage of a fire fight.

Episodes stream on Netflix and Amazon Instant (free with a paid Prime membership), and can be rented or purchased on iTunes. You can also find pieces of episodes in the My War Diary video bank at the Military Channel’s website.
